Is the background remover free?
Yes, free with no watermark and no sign-up. The cutout runs on your own device, so it costs us nothing to run.
What format should I download?
PNG or WebP keep the transparent background. JPEG has no transparency and fills it with black, so the export dialog switches to PNG for you.
How good is the edge on hair and fur?
Edges are refined against the photo itself, so fur and hair come out soft and natural. Very fine strands on busy backgrounds can keep a faint fringe.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. This edit runs in your browser, so your photo stays on your device. Only if you type an instruction for the AI is a small preview (at most 768 pixels) sent to plan the edit, and only optional generative edits (remove an object, new background) send part of the photo.
